  1. The Rev'd Fr. Michael K. Bice

I am an Anglican priest born in Sydney, Australia. I now live in Chicago, USA. Earlier this month I visited St Enoder Parish Church because my Bice family came to Sydney in 1838 from St Enoder. The first to arrive were Zaccheus Glanville Bice, of St Enoder, and his widowed mother, Mary Glanville, originally from St Columb. I know this information because one of my relatives did this research, and even visited St Enoder and wrote out a geneology which I still have. Apparently the Bices became dairy farmers south of Sydney and carved the farm out of the bush. Because Zaccheus , the boy, was educated, he subsequently became Mayor of the new town of Nowra near his farm. I came to St Enoder hoping to learn more about my Bice family roots. I saw the plaque behind the organ dedicated to Catherine Mary Bice, the organist for 40 years, until 1914. I know there are Bices burried in the churchyard but the stones were too difficult to read. Alas, I ran out of time, and had to take the train back to London and then fly back to Chicago. I wonder if there are still Bices in Cornwall and if it would be possible to get more information. I was also very impressed with the beauty of St Enoder parish church and would love to hear from the rector, Fr Samson. Thank you for allowing me this Comment. Sincerely, Michael Bice

Sorry for the slow reply , computer issues ! We are wondering if you were aware there were 2 churchyards , one next to the church (with war memorial in it )and one nearer to Summercourt . All records of burials are kept in county archieves Truro . Kind regards Hilary
